The Ask: In instructional design communities, the use of AI as a conception tool has become the norm, encompassing activities such as layout setup, storyboarding, and full course conception. Given the constantly rising prices of course authoring software, I started wondering which tools freelance and novice instructional designers without a budget would use.
Enter Claude. With a 20$ a month subscription, I was able to use Claude Design to concieve a pretty fun, basic micro-learning course, in about 30 minutes.

The Process: I found a couple of articles that discussed growth mindset, what it was, and how to apply it to professional situations, and consolidated my findings into a page of notes.
I then asked Claude to design a course based off of these notes in the same style as Articulate Rise, with knowledge checks, easy to follow chapters, and simple icons.
The Results: As a first test, this design worked pretty well. I can see myself coming back to Claude Design to make other work content, though I did find myself making several course corrections.
